Rules and guidelines

This page combines the core city rules, server guidelines, and character rules for RFG RP. Replace the placeholder text below with your final wording when you are ready.

City rules
Applies to everyone in the server

General conduct

Use this section for your main city rules that apply to all players. You can keep a numbered list to make it easy to reference in tickets or staff conversations.

  1. Placeholder rule one. Replace this text with your real rule.
  2. Placeholder rule two. Add your wording here.
  3. Placeholder rule three. Continue your rule set as needed.

Suggestion: keep rule names short and clear so they are easy to quote inside Discord tickets.

Communication and toxicity

Add your expectations around voice chat, text chat, slurs, harassment, and general behavior here.

  1. No hate speech, targeted harassment, or real life threats.
  2. Keep disagreements in character when possible and escalate to staff when needed.
  3. Out of character issues stay out of roleplay scenes.
Server guidelines
Technical and gameplay expectations

Gameplay expectations

Use this area for things like fail RP definitions, powergaming, and metagaming explanations.

  1. Define what you consider fail roleplay and provide a couple of examples.
  2. Explain what counts as metagaming in your city.
  3. Mention how staff will usually respond to first time vs repeat problems.

Technical requirements

Add notes about required Discord presence, microphone usage, and any recording or streaming rules.

  1. Discord and in game voice must be functional while you are in the city.
  2. Explain your policy on streamers or content creators if you have one.
  3. Note any rules around external programs, overlays, or mods.
Character rules
How characters should be created and played

Character creation

Use this section for limits around names, backstories, and extreme concepts.

  1. Describe your rules for character naming and forbidden themes.
  2. Note any backstory elements that are not allowed without staff approval.
  3. Describe how many active characters a player may have if you limit it.

Character behavior and realism

Add guidance for how seriously characters should value their lives and how to handle losing.

  1. Explain your expectations around valuing life and avoiding throwaway behavior.
  2. Note your approach to permadeath or long term injury, if applicable.
  3. Clarify any rules around criminal escalation and repeat offenders.

Out of character support

Use this final card for information about how and where to ask staff for help with rules.

Example: Ask players to open a Discord ticket if they are unsure how a rule applies, rather than arguing in the middle of a scene.
