General expectations
Professional conduct for all officers

Professional behavior

Use this area for high level expectations for all sworn officers in the city.

  1. Officers are expected to remain calm and professional, even in heated scenes.
  2. Department radio and public radio should be kept clear during active situations.
  3. Chain of command should be respected whenever ranking supervisors are online.

On duty and off duty

Define when an officer is considered on duty and what is allowed while off duty.

  1. Clarify how officers clock in and out of service.
  2. Note whether off duty officers may carry weapons or respond to calls.
  3. Explain your policy for off duty crime or corruption roleplay if you allow it.
Radio procedure

Radio usage

Outline your expectations for callouts, unit identifiers, and priority traffic.

  1. Describe how units should identify themselves when keying up.
  2. Explain the difference between normal traffic and priority traffic.
  3. List a few example callouts for traffic stops, pursuits, and shots fired.

Channel structure

  1. Define which channels are used for primary patrol and which for specialized units.
  2. Note any rules about moving to tac channels during large scenes.

  2. Define what SWAT or other special teams are allowed to use and when.
  3. Include guidance for spike strips and other specialized equipment.

Use this section to describe your pursuit policy, including initiating and terminating chases.

  1. List what offenses justify a pursuit.
  2. Explain when supervisors should call off a pursuit for safety or roleplay reasons.
  3. Mention any restrictions on PIT maneuvers or ramming.

Vehicle operations

Document expectations for code three driving, siren usage, and staging.

  1. Clarify speeds and caution expectations in the city versus county.
  2. Describe how to safely stage near active scenes.
